The UCLA CalKIDS Institute is dedicated to creating a future where every child in California can thrive through the transformative power of CalKIDS. By advancing socioeconomic justice, we work to ensure that families have the resources, knowledge and support they need to build brighter education and financial futures.
Who is eligible?
All California Newborns
Children born in California on or after July 1, 2022 have a CalKIDS Scholarship waiting for them.

Eligible School-aged Kids
Low-income, youth in foster-care or unhoused student may be eligible for a CalKIDs scholarship.

Eligible College Students
College students who attended public school in Claifornia during November 2021 and identified as low-income, foster youth or unhoused may be eligible for a CalKIDS Scholarship.

The CalKIDS program provides assets to everyone!
It jumpstarts saving for college and career. All California newborns and eligible students get a CalKIDS college savings account with an initial seed deposit, and parents can open parallel family accounts and make additional contributions.
